We recently held a "French Culture Day" at JICEF, immersing ourselves in the sights, tastes, and sounds of France. It was a fantastic day filled with smiles and learning, attended by many people interested in French Culture and French Food Culture.

Discovering the Beauty of France

The event kicked off with a presentation by Mr. Tom. He spoke passionately about the nature, unique culture, and the history of French Cuisine (Gastronomy). Hearing these stories from a native perspective gave us insights you just can't get from a textbook. The participants were fascinated by the differences between Japan and France!

Fun for Everyone: The French Quiz!

Mr. Tom’s children played a big role in making the event a success! His younger son hosted a lively "French Quiz Game." Questions like "Do French people eat slugs?" brought laughter and surprise to the room. It was a fun and interactive way to deepen our understanding of the country.

Delicious & Authentic: French Crêpe Making

For the French Food Culture experience, we all tried our hand at making authentic crêpes. Spreading the batter thinly requires a bit of skill, but everyone from children to adults worked together and had fun cooking. With plenty of sweet toppings and fruits available, everyone created their own perfect dessert. The smell of freshly baked crêpes filled the venue, and the taste was simply "Très bon!"

A Musical Journey with Mr. Bruno on French Culture Day

To close the event, Mr. Bruno took us on a journey through the history of French music. After his talk, he treated us to a live guitar performance. The beautiful sounds of French Jazz transformed the venue, creating an elegant atmosphere reminiscent of a Parisian café. It was a wonderful way to end the day.

Through food, music, and conversation, we felt closer to France than ever before. A huge thank you to everyone who participated, and especially to Mr. Tom, Mr. Bruno, and their families for their wonderful presentations and performances!

We look forward to seeing you at our next international exchange event!
