We had a meaningful day of cultural learning, reflection, and international exchange! Members from many different countries and backgrounds came together to explore Japanese heritage and make new connections.

Discovering Japanese Traditional Activities at the Temple

The day began with a visit to a local temple, where participants took part in Japanese traditional activities and learned about Buddhist culture and temple history from a Buddhist guide. The group toured the temple grounds, heard stories about its history, and had the chance to ask questions about Buddhist practices and daily temple life. It was a wonderful opportunity to experience Japan's cultural heritage up close, and many participants said it gave them a deeper appreciation for Japanese traditions.

Connecting Over a Relaxing Picnic

Afterward, everyone moved to a nearby park for a relaxing picnic. Participants shared snacks and dishes from their home countries, chatted in a mix of English and Japanese, and got to know one another over the course of the afternoon. It was a lively, easygoing atmosphere, and several members exchanged contact information to stay in touch after the event.

A Memorable Day of Cultural Exchange

Looking back, the day captured what JICEF hopes to offer — genuine connection through shared cultural experiences. Thank you to everyone who joined us — it was a special day we won't forget, and we look forward to seeing many of you at future events!
