We recently had the privilege of visiting Tokyo Katei Gakkou for a special Tanzania Culture Day. Our goal was simple: to bring the vibrant colors, tastes, and rhythms of East Africa directly to the children, creating a day full of smiles and new experiences.
A Journey to Tanzania Together with the children, we embarked on a journey through a presentation exploring Tanzania's rich diversity—its unique languages, energetic dances, and majestic wildlife. To spark their curiosity, we played an interactive Quiz Game in groups. The children’s enthusiasm was contagious, and they were quick to learn new facts about African culture!

Cooking & Sharing Together The connection grew stronger in the kitchen. We cooked "Zege", a famous Tanzanian street food (chips omelet), together with the children. JICEF members also brought homemade cakes and pogaca, turning lunch into a warm, multicultural feast shared by everyone.
Art & Memories For our creative activity, we designed tote bags. Using stencils of African patterns and animals, the children painted onto white bags. It was heartwarming to see them express themselves through art, creating their own unique souvenirs to keep.
Thank You We are deeply grateful to Tokyo Katei Gakkou for welcoming us and to our partner YouMeWe for their invaluable support. The day ended with a group photo, capturing the joy of a day spent bridging cultures and building friendships.
