As part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening community ties, the Japan International Cultural and Education Foundation (JICEF) recently visited the Yashio Home Care Support Center in Shinagawa Ward to host a special senior citizens program for the local community.

Bringing Joy Through Our Senior Citizens Program
Through our dedicated senior citizens program, youth volunteers and children associated with JICEF took the lead in organizing a heartwarming event. The goal was to express our deepest gratitude and respect to the older generation through music, gifts, and meaningful intergenerational conversations.
Connecting Generations with Music
A major highlight of the day was the live musical performance by our volunteers. With a keyboard accompaniment, our youth staff sang beautiful songs for the residents, filling the room with warm applause and bright smiles.

Handmade Gifts from the Children
Following the performance, the children personally handed out beautifully decorated, handwritten message cards and flowers to the elderly residents. The seniors were visibly touched by the interaction, and it was wonderful to see the joy on their faces as they spoke with the young volunteers.
Participating in a senior citizens program like this is a profound learning experience for the younger generation, teaching them the importance of empathy, respect, and community engagement regardless of age or background.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Yashio Home Care Support Center and all the residents who welcomed us so warmly. JICEF will continue to bridge generations and bring smiles to our local communities!
